Local membership ($10) includes mentoring and invitations to our networking and other events. Our second annual Judges’ Fireside Chat is coming up, and we’re pushing the RSVP deadline. Please make sure to get yourself on the invitation!

Diversity Gala, October 27 at Adobe Lounge. Put simply, it would be a bad idea to miss this. Information and RSVP here.

Thanksgiving Potluck, November 19 at Professor Armstrong’s home. Details to come, but save the date!

Here are some opportunities from around campus.

HMCE Volunteer

This year Santa Clara has been selected to host the regional ABA Negotiation Competition. This event is a wonderful opportunity for students to watch live negotiations, network with the professionals slated to judge the rounds (including Judges and practicing attorneys in the area), and interact with students from a wide variety of law schools

To make the event a success, HMCE needs volunteers for November 4th, 5th, and 6th. (Remember the MPRE is Nov. 5 for those taking it) Sign up using the following google spreadsheet link HMCE has provided. Put BLSA in parenthesis next to your name and we could win a prize! https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0ApENO8v_3I2ZdFNMZ1EtVkZwblMwWVNIN1NyRWFaeVE&hl=en_US#gid=0

If you’re interested in going to a local school to teach kids about the Constitution, let us know. SALSA is sponsoring and we can make sure you know how to connect with them. Here is some info: the school is in San Jose, 7 mins away from campus, and the times will be 8-9:30 am, and 12:30-2 pm. For the Supreme Court activity, we need volunteers to act as Supreme Court Justices for 8th grade oral arguments (not a competition). SALSA will provide the material for both sets of activities.
