New BLSA Position Available: College Student Division Coordinator

Please see below for information on this position and contact Norah Alyami if you're interested at nalyami@scu.edu

My name is Alana Penn and I am the 2010-2011 Western Region College Student Division Director. Our goal is to have an active CSD Chapter at every undergraduate institution in the nation. I am excited to share with you the two nationwide initiatives we are implementing this year, the CSD Liaison Initiative and the HBCU Initiative, and to provide you with the necessary information for you to get started at your local chapter.

The CSD Liaison Initiative encourages local BLSA chapters, such as yours, to appoint a CSD Liaison who will serve as the primary point of contact for the undergraduate institutions they identify in their geographic proximity. The goal is to open the line of communication between these institutions and the neighboring law school so that they can obtain relevant and accurate information about law school and its admission process. We will work with the identified institutions to gauge the level of interest for obtaining membership in the College Student Division of NBLSA, and where applicable, in chartering a CSD Chapter.

In order to serve as a CSD Liaison, they must:

1.Have an academic 2L or 3L status,

2.Have effective written and oral communication skills,

3.Submit a bi-weekly status report to the Regional CSD Director, and

4.Must follow the goals outlined in each of the applicable initiatives for that region.

I look forward to working with you this year to ensure those undergraduate students considering law school are informed about the law school application process, life as a law student, the practice of law, and that they receive the relevant knowledge about obtaining a law degree.

If you have any questions or concerns about these initiatives, please feel free to contact me directly at wrblsacsd@gmail.com.

Thank you in advance for making this initiative a success!

Alana Penn

2010-2011 Western Region College Student Division Director
